March for the Coronation and New History Begins Here

THE POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE – Hear the fanfares, marching feet and cavalries? The coronation begins! This is the rebirth of the old blog for my artworks and journal, which is now in damnation of sorrowful daily writes. Hence, it’s better off left cloistered in its own catacomb away from public. And henceforth, a new blog created to serve the original purpose as a personal art repository. I am a tragedian artist, this will be the final resting ground for my arts and other work of expressions. Depression begets inspirations and tragedy becomes art. Memento mori, the day when I must close, all dreams shall be burnt, reduced to dying embers and swept away to obliteration. End!

Life: The Ugly Bird

Harbinger of doom is the bird that caws in augury of death. How detestable the sinister bird was never condoned for his singing impaired unlike the lark or the immaculate dove adored by all. Clad in black plumage, the passerine watches grimly in patience awaiting things you know not, squinting dark eyes he sees the unthinkable you feared and on great wings he reached for where you dread.

ARTWORK: The Swan

Wildlife Art. The Swan. Painted with Corel Painter 11 on an Apple Mac Pro. This one was painted out of frustration at work which it seems, much of anger were absorbed into the painting, strange. This painting is also for the fun of exploring the feathers of a swan.

ARTWORK: The Allosaurus

Wildlife Art. The Allosaurus. Painted with Corel Painter 11 on an Apple Mac Pro. Revisiting my past as a children’s book illustrator from a publishing house. Days back in 1993, painting dinosaurs was great fun and some frustrations along with it. I would like to do it again today for the nostalgic sake.

Life: Return to Arts World

YEARS came by, the more I realised the need to revisit the past, to pick the fragments of my own forgotten history. Gather them and put them together to whatever it’ll turn out to be. But the fragments are but the shards of broken dreams if they are worth reminiscing even at all. It’s probably the result of obliterating my past, to alter my past to change my life for betterment? Perhaps my endeavour failed and oblivious to me that I do not recognise myself any longer. As to who I really was and has he left me? But how have I failed and to define that failure.

ARTWORK: SpitFire Prelude (William Walton)

Music Art. This picture to the larger world, there are two planes flying over the countryside under the cold and wet English weather. To me, it’s aviation glory, war and hopes for the people of the time, 1940s. And the greatest music written to the film “First of the Few”, released in 1942. Thus today, my tribute to the work of Sir William Turner Walton (29 March 1902 – 8 March 1983), a renowned English composer. And I have to thank Carolyn Lim for the accidental yet remarkable photograph that made this piece of art happened!

ARTWORK: Mdm Tia Boon Sim

Corel Painter 11 test on portrait painting. This is somebody with a very interesting grin. I’m not often affected by people with interesting facial features and even if it does, I’ll probably just talk about it. Now this, is a very interesting grin that gave me a reason to do portrait art which is never my cup of tea. The software test-pilot portrait or paint doodle became serious business.

Fantasy Art. For an online friend in war gaming. 8 hours quick digital painting with Corel Painter 11, which is a whole new approach or encounter. ARTWORK: JackRabbit

Wildlife Art. The Jackrabbit is a desert dweller, inhabiting all 4 southwestern deserts. They are true hares because, unlike the cottontailed rabbits, they do not build nests. The mother simply chooses a place to her liking and the young are born fully furred, with their eyes wide open.

EVENTS: Sokkuan at Noise 2011

NOISE 2011 at The Arts House. And so it seems the industry hasn’t changed much with taint of bad culture of cooks spoiling the soup and stench of pseudo-artistic clients cooking in the pot. And face it, even the creatives have too much sewage water running in their heads or a nest of maggots for a brain sometimes. Also, I thought it’ll be interesting to find out about Sok Kuan in person through the showcase and her magnum opus. An interesting and prominent character in the art industry, thus the gentleman from hell attended.

LIFE: Bad Childhood

CHILDHOOD is an old place, in which the haunting reminder of being a little talented has brought misery to me. As a gifted, I enjoyed drawing pictures since young but never did enjoy showing to others, including my parents. As I was ashamed of my work. For the strangest reason that I can never understand, till this day, that there is something wrong with my work. So seriously wrong to people or this world is so wrong for me, either way. Or is this world too beautiful for me.

LIFE: The Art Cemetery

THIS is a cemetery for my artworks. For life is quiet now and the days vying to be the best, the dreams of vanity is over. All for the survival in this industry when most often, it’s not what you can do but who you are. And it seems the creative industry’s war machine has gone deranged or broken down to it’s own conceited defeat, in the brutal game of love. That is me. And this is how an inexhaustible fighting machine can be stopped and destroyed. The heart from a chink in the armour.

UPDATE: The End for Now

GOOD times never last. Instead of wallowing myself to destruction, the forced medical leave was unexpectedly eventful but has ended. The time to focus on career has come with the call to standby for massive projects likely to protract for months. Therefore my artistic interests will cease at this point. Contents especially new paintings in this blog will be less frequent but it’s not the end.

ARTWORK: Aces in the Pacific

Aviation Art. Done with Corel Painter 11, the Curtiss P40 WarHawk aircraft for the United States Air Force. This time, the air battles brought to the pacific where once long ago ever in our history the aces soared those skies with great courage. Throughout the painting, there was a pang of grief for the young men of that time who’d given their life in the cause of war. The men from both sides.

THE GENTLEMAN FROM HELL

The interface and behaviour of this blog mimics the author's personality. Insipid by appearance with hidden sullenness. Buried deep in their own respective entry posts like corpses in coffins, the arts are all dead. Memories and secrets heretofore in artistic ululations.
